Re: Many thanks... |
Actually "Four Frightened People" is my favorite DeMille film, and much preferred to his overblown, pseudo-biblical sextaculars. Unfortunately, it being PD is a long shot. Still it would be worth checking just to make sure. BTW, it's available from Netflix.
The release of "I Covered the Waterfront" caused a minor uproar, and I don't understand why. There were many other films with nude scenes, some of them longer and more explicit. For example, there's Maureen O'Sullivan's naked swim (shot underwater) in "Tarzan the Ape Man" (1932). Go figure.

Actually that wasn't Maureen O'sulivan, they used a body double who was an olympic swimmer, because she was a stronger swimmer than O'sullivan and could do the scene better.

Damn, Jungle Jane, another treasured illusion smashed. Next you'll be telling me Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny aren't real. Although frankly I'm beginning to have a few doubts about the Easter Bunny myself.
I've always thought the most appealing actresses of the period were Maureen O'Sullivan, Fay Wray and Jean Harlow, in that order. Of course Maureen was the most accomplished of the three, as proved by her lengthy career.

Acctually, Maureen O'Sullivan had a bad phobia about water. She had trouble just putting her face in the water. I have the first tazan Box set of movies. She did an interview and told this herself.

Bath time must have been a challenge. Showers really must have been an adventure!
Thanks for the tidbit. Those first Tarzans were great adult films. Too bad most folks only know the later movies in the series that mostly were meant for kids. Still, they're a lot of fun too. The last I heard Cheeta was still alive.

Re: Many thanks... |
Which Cheeta? Tony Gentry bought a chimp he claimed was Cheeta in the 60's and was later outed as a fraud. Cheeta was portrayed by a number of animals, depending on what talent was required for the scene and what year the movie was made. A chimp named Mike is the longest living known survivor, still around since the 30's. Is that his pic?
